3 Things To Know About Using A Pressure Washer

A pressure washer is a great tool for cleaning the outside of your house. It can be an effective way to clean your roof, siding, decks, fencings, railings, and even your windows if you know how to use your pressure washer correctly. A pressure washer can help you keep the outside of your home looking great.

Always Protect Yourself

When working with a pressure washer, the first thing you need to think about is yourself. A pressure washer is a powerful tool that can be harmful if used incorrectly and that can be harmful if you lose your grip, trip, or something unexpected happens. The pressure from a pressure washer, when directed at your body, can be harmful and dangerous.

When you work with a pressure washer, you should always cover up as much skin as possible with a long-sleeve shirt and pants.

You should also wear protective eye wear. This will protect you if the water hits your face as well as from debris that you may loosen as you work and spray back from the surfaces you'll hit with your pressure washer.

Pressure washers are also loud machines, so invest in some protective earwear as well.

Work Slowly

When you clean with a pressure washer, the point isn't to get the job done as fast as possible. The point is to effectively clean the area. Do not rush your work when cleaning with a pressure washer. Clean top to bottom, left to right. Start at a low pressure and work up to the right pressure to clean the surface you are working on. Don't start out by blasting water at what you are cleaning on the highest pressure; that's how things get damaged. Take your time to find the right pressure settings and to work through the cleaning job.

Hold the Wand Correctly

When you clean with a pressure washer, you want to hold the wand with both hands. AS stated above, pressure washers are strong, and you want to make sure that you have the wand in your full control at all times.

Hold the pressure washing wand at least a foot and a half away from the surface you are cleaning. You don't need it right next to the surface in order to clean it. Holding the want away from the surface will help protect the want, the surface, and you from damage.

Don't hold the want directly perpendicular to the surface you are cleaning. Hold the want at an angle. This will help you control the flow of water and will help ensure that the spray-off from the pressure washer doesn't come back on you.

When cleaning with a pressure washer, be sure to watch out for your own safety first this summer. When you clean, take your time and work slowly, holding the wand tightly, at the right distance, and at the right angle. Take your time with your pressure washer and it can be a great tool for keeping your house clean.  Contact a company, like Safewash Powerwash, for more help.
